The latest #VicSRCpledge news

At Congress 2015, delegates worked together with schools in their region to challenge each other, work together and make pledges for action back at school and in their communities. The outcome? Over 20 commitments to action through #VicSRCpledge. Here are the  August 2015 updates.


Southern Schools Victoria Cluster Network

  • Initiated by Nossal HS and Narre Warren South P-12
  • Southern Schools Victoria is a large cluster network in Melbourne’s south-east growth corridor. Southern schools Victoria consists of a group of schools that work together for an on-going purpose. We align ourselves to the strategic plans of member schools to ensure our presence within schools is valued

Statewide Year 12 Network

  • Proposed / being explored by Wellington SC, led by Andy Nguyen

  • The team at Wellington Secondary College need your help:

    • "Year 12 can mean a lot - it can mean the final year of high school, it can signal the time to take up opportunities.The team (led by Andy Nguyen) is proposing to form a state-wide Year 12 committee to provide advice on studying, a range of student issues including stress, tertiary information including open days as well as facilitating mentoring and study programs. What do you think? Any opinions or ideas please let us know!”

#DoItInADress campaign, Brentwood Secondary College

  • Initiated by Jess Miller from Brentwood

  • Jess has become an ambassador for One Girl and is organising a fundraiser with her SRC team to help girls in Africa get to school

Gay is OK – Let’s Start a Revolution, MacLeod College

  • Initiated by Ethan Billman, MacLeod College

  • MacLeod is looking at ways to reduce discrimination against LBGTI young people

  • Led by a team of three students

40hr Famine Fundraiser for Once Girl, MacLeod College

  • Initiated by Ethan Billman, MacLeod College

  • Aiming to raise $10,000 and donate part of that to One Girl to help enable more young women to have an education

40hr Famine campaign, Thornbury High School

  • Initiated by the SRC team

  • "Our amazing SRC students are participating in the 2015 40 Hour Famine: World Vision Australia campaign, and they need your help! They're offering a range of "famines" and incentives in exchange for donations (including drawing you pictures, and even baking you cupcakes!), and their donation page is now live - so give generously, and help them fight global hunger! ?#‎GoTeamThornbury?!"

#VicSRCpledge is a commitment to action made by students across Victoria. It originated out of Congress 2015 and the fierce desire and determination of delegates to make sure that student voices are heard long after the close of Congress. No matter how big or small, #VicSRCpledge empowers every student to take action on issues that matter most to their education, their school and their communities.
