Who can nominate?

Depends on the category! Check out our categories page for more info on each but in general:

Victorian SRCs and school groups can nominate for the Group Action Award, SRC of the Year Award (this comes in Primary or Secondary).

Current Victorian Year Twelve students can nominate for the Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award.  

Current Victorian teachers can be nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award.

How to enter

1.    Read through the categories and prizes

2.    Create a 1-2 minute video (2 minutes max) with no commercial music that tells your story and how you use student voice in any of the five award categories

3.    Upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive or Dropbox and copy the link

4.    Fill out the online form (now closed) answering all questions (see the questions for each category here) and linking us to your video (2mins max).

Entries close 9AM Monday 3rd September. Submissions after this date will not be accepted.

A total of $20,000 is up for grabs across five categories to invest in student leadership, SRC, education, student voice activities or social change initiatives.

2018 VicSRC Student Voice Awards ceremony

Thursday 18th October



The 2018 VicSRC Student Voice Awards will be judged by panel of VicSRC Student Executives, staff, supporters and education sector representaives.


  • VicSRC will shortlist the top five submissions per category

  • The judging panel will watch the five nomination videos for each award category based on selection criteria. Each panel member will rate the nominations according to the criteria. The panel will then share their votes and discuss the most suitable finalists

  • Each award category will have a winner and two runners-up

  • Nominees will be notified of the outcome of their application via email

  • Finalists will be invited to attend the 2018 VicSRC Student Voice Awards ceremony on Tuesday 18th September.

Interviews for Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award

Three finalists will be selected to be interviewed for the Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award.

The interviews will be conducted on Friday 14th September 2018 from 9.30am-12.30pm. Finalists must be available for the interview in order to be eligible for the award.

As part of the interview process, finalists will be asked to present a clear plan on what winning the Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award would enable them to do including how they would spend the prize money to develop their leadership skills and extend their leadership activities to help support young people in their school community.
