When and where?

The 2017 VicSRC Recognition Awards are about celebrating best practice in student voice and student-led action.

Who can nominate?

SRCs, schools and school groups based in Victoria can nominate for the Group Action Award, SRC of the Year Award - Primary Schools, SRC of the Year Award - Secondary Schools and Teacher of the Year Award .

Current Year 12 students living in Victoria aged can nominate for the Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award.


How to enter

1.    Read through the categories and prizes

2.    Create a 1-2 minute video (max) which showcases your story and demonstrates best practice in supporting student voice in any of the five award categories

3.    Upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive or Dropbox and copy the link

4.    Fill out the online form: www.surveymonkey.com/r/RAwards-nominationlinking us to your video.

Entries close at 5pm, Friday 25 August. Submissions after this date will not be accepted.


Prizes

A total of $20,000 is up for grabs across five categories to invest in student leadership, SRC, education, student voice activities or social change initiatives.

Judging

The 2017 VicSRC Recognition Awards will be judged by an eminent panel of VicSRC Executives, staff, supporters and education sector representaives.

Process:

  • VicSRC will shortlist nominations to the top five videos/written submissions per category

  • The judging panel will watch the five nomination videos for each award category based on selection criteria. Each panel member will rate the nominations according to the criteria. The panel will then share their votes and then discuss the most suitable finalists

  • Each award category will have a winner and two runner-ups

  • Nominees will be notified of the outcome of their application via email

  • Finalists will be invited to attend the 2017 VicSRC Recognition Awards ceremony on Wednesday 11 October 2017.

Interviews for Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award

Three finalists will be selected to be interviewed for the Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award (Year 12s).

The interviews will be conducted on Friday 9th September 2016 from 9.30am-12.30pm. Finalists must be available for the interview in order to be eligible to win the award.

As part of the interview process, finalists will be asked to present a clear plan on what winning the Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award would enable them to do including how they would spend the prize money to develop their leadership skills and extend their leadership activities to help support young people in their school community.
