Group Action Award

Are you part of a group of students that's done something amazing in your school or local community? Something like

- Making change! Has something changed at your school because of your group? Is there a new policy on litter or bullying or recycling?
- Speaking up! Are you speaking to power for the students at your school? Have you been to see the local government or the principal on behalf of your student body?
- Amplifying others! Are students better heard at your school because of your group? Do more students get to speak to the SRC or School Council?

Prizes
1st place: $1,800 grant
2nd place: $1,000 grant
3rd place: $500 grant

Teacher of the Year Award

Do you know a teacher who makes sure students are heard? They might be your SSRC teacher or working with a program at the school to help students be heard. This teacher might have:

- Mentored! Helped students to speak up by backing them up to authority, providing help or guidance,
- Empowered! Offered opportunities for students to learn or attend events (like VicSRC Congress!) that help them gain leadership skills!
- Listened! Changed things in their classroom or their school in response to conversations with students.

1st place: $3,000 grant
2nd place: $1,000 grant
3rd place: $1,000 grant

Teacher of the Year Award Nomination Questions 

  • Summarise why you’re nominating yourself/ your teacher for this award (200 word max)
  • What are some of the outcomes of your/ your teacher’s guidance and support? (100 word max)
  • What are some of the challenges you / your teacher has encountered? (100 word max)
  • What  advice would you give to teachers supporting a SRC or student leadership program? (100 word max)
  • If you’re selected as a 1st, 2nd or 3rd-place finalist, how could you invest the grant prize?

The Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Awards

The Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Awards will be awarded to a Year 12 student who provides exceptional leadership within their school and community.

Three finalists will be selected to be interviewed for the Newsboys Foundation Youth Leadership Award. Interviews will be held on at a date to be advised.  

The award winner will receive a $3,000 grant which will be adminstered by the Newsboys Foundation for extending and developing leadership skills and activities. Two runner ups will receive $1,000 for the same purpose.

3rd place: $1,000 grant

SRC of the year - Primary School Award

Are you already making waves at your primary school? If your Junior School Council has made change you're elligible for this award! You might have:

- Listened! Have you been asking other students what they want to see at the school?
- Reported! Have you taken information about what students want to the Principal or School Council?
- Made change! Have you changed things for students at your school?

1st place: $1,800 grant
2nd place: $1,000 grant
3rd place: $500 grant

SRC of the Year - Primary School Award Nomination Questions

- Asked! Found out what students want changed through surveys, polls, feedback or just listening to the crowd!
- Spoken! Have you taken new ideas to people in power at your school? Changes in policy, new programs or issues that need resolving!
- Changed! What is different at your school that wouldn't be if you weren't there?
